Have you ever accidentally eaten meat or fish?

Once, a friend offered me a piece of pasta. She thought that it was quorn. I love quorn, so I took a piece of the pasta. While I was chewing the pasta, my friend exclaimed, 'Oh no, I think it's tuna!'. Yes. But it was too late. I'd already swallowed the pasta. I probably didn't eat very much...

    Chocolate

I never thought about chocolate not being suitable for vegetarians, only vegans. I do live in the UK, so they do have the green 'v' on anything that's suitable for vegetarians. I'm guessing that sometimes a few non-vegetarian ingredients are added to enhance the taste of the chocolate.

Do you feel restricted with food options when eating out?

Often, when you're vegetarian, food options are very limited. This varies in different areas, but as a rule, there are some restaurants and eateries I just don't visit, like Nandos. Such places don't cater very well for vegetarians (or vegans, for that matter), which is quite irritating. It...

Aldi lists of vegan and vegetarian friendly foods

I'm really happy that Aldi has started such a positive idea, I think it'll help people who control their diets in certain ways a lot. Some of their vegetarian products look pretty good actually!

Do you grow your own food?

I really want to, but I don't have a lot of space to do so currently. We do grow beans in our back garden, but that's about it, and we do get a few to use in our meals every year. I really would like to grow some fruit in my garden, like strawberries, raspberries or blackberries.

    Being vegetarian: positive or negative?

Totally agree. That's one of the reasons that I'm happy being vegetarian and don't really care whether people think that my diet is 'right' or 'wrong'.

    Being vegetarian: positive or negative?

Many people see vegetarianism as a negative thing. They think that vegetarians are just being a bit too 'picky', and need to eat meat and fish in order to have a truly balanced diet. Lots of people who previously ate meat and are now vegetarian regret the decision. Less food choices, more...

    Introvert or Extrovert?

I'm a mix, I guess. I'm pretty extroverted with people I know well or people that I'm friends with. However, often when I'm with people that I'm not familiar with or I haven't met before, I find it pretty awkward and uncomfortable. I'm not fully extroverted nor introverted, it totally depends on...

    Fruit allergies

Allergies really can be a problem, especially with some food groups like fruit. I have no idea what I would do if I was allergic to fruits: I eat them as snacks all the time. I think especially that when you're vegetarian or vegan, having allergies with a few food groups that you eat can really...

What food do you take on a camping trip?

I always take plenty of fruit with me. They're sweet, healthy and easy to eat when you're on the move. I also like to pack rice, as it's easy to eat. I always have a few sandwiches with me, just in case. And, like everyone else, potatoes! Baked potatoes are so convenient and so good to eat!

    Favorite Herbs & Spices

I like using a lot of herbs and spices when I cook in order to add extra flavor to my meals! My favorites to use are: - Oregano (when cooking Italian food) - Dill - Basil - Cinnamon (mainly in sweet dishes) - Paprika Powder What herbs and spices do you like using?

    Vegetarian Children

I guess it depends on the lifestyle of the parent and their family. I grew up in a vegetarian household, and now I'm just used to not eating meat. That doesn't mean that I don't eat junk and I'm not unhealthy: being vegetarian does cut out some unhealthy elements from your diet, however there...

Why did you choose to become a vegan or vegetarian?

I've been vegetarian since birth. I grew up in a household where both my parents were vegetarian, so me even trying meat never really came up. To this day, I've never tried meat, and now I'm so used to being vegetarian I don't think I'd try. I guess it's a lot easier to be vegetarian when you've...

Do you want to live near the beach?

Yes! I'm envious of anybody who has a house near the ocean. It may be colder and windier most of the time, but it must be so wonderful to just look out of the window... Currently I live in a pretty large town, which is great too, just I think that somewhere calming and cool nearer the sea would...

    Pescetarian

I've always been just vegetarian, definitely never pescetarian. However, often when I tell people that I'm vegetarian, they ask me if I eat fish. The number of times I've explained the difference between a vegetarian and a pescetarian is ridiculous.

Do you prefer store bought Veggie Burgers or homemade?

I generally prefer homemade. I can control what goes into the homemade ones, and I generally prefer burger fillings with chickpeas or vegetables rather than beans. However, you can get satisfactory veggie burgers in McDonalds in the UK. It's called the 'Spicy Bean Burger'. Not the best quality...

    Do you have a pet?

I really would like to have a pet! I've been wanting one for a long time now, however owning a pet means that you have to give that pet a lot of time and attention. If I had a pet, I don't think I would be able to give it the time and attention that it deserves, so therefore I never got one...

Which Food or Food Group is your main source of protein?

I mainly get mine from lentils, beans, eggs and tofu. Different lentils have very different tastes (some which I hate), but overall they're a really healthy way to get a fill of protein. When it comes to beans, I love kidney beans and chickpeas particularly. They taste so good (especially...

Would you eat meat grown in a lab?

The idea of something so processed worries me slightly, and I wouldn't eat that kind of thing for that reason alone. I don't really ever think about meat in my diet, and I don't think I would need to buy something that has been so processed. As well as this, I've been vegetarian since birth...

    Favorite meat substitute products

Sometimes, some meals just require something with a meat-like texture, or at times you just need to have the protein! I absolutely love Quorn for these types of recipes. Many people dislike Quorn, as they find the texture quite odd. However, since I've always been vegetarian, I don't know what...
