Starting to transition.. please help with alternatives

A lot of dark chocolate is "accidentally" vegan. Sounds like you're in the UK so check out Scottish youtuber NaturallyStefanie - she has loads of videos called Accidentally vegan with sweets, chocolates, biscuits etc. from main brands that you can find in Tescos, that all happen to be vegan. I...

Do you rinse your beans in cold water before you cook/eat them?

    The alcoholic vegan?

I very rarely drink but I have noticed the exact same thing. A glass of wine or two hits me straight away since going vegan. I only drink a handful of times a year though so it really doesn't bother me, but I have definitely noticed it.

Questioning veganism after being vegan for 3 years

I live in a relatively small European country and though it's not as easy to get vegan sweets and chocolate as it is to get non-vegan stuff it's not impossible at all. Have you had a look online? VegoBear by Candypeople make the BEST vegan gummy bears. My non-vegan friends love them as well...

Questioning veganism after being vegan for 3 years

You must feel really conflicted about this and just like people decide to go to a vegan diet, of course people also go from a vegan diet to some other kind too, but I think you need to find your 'why'. You say you "agree with everything" but what does that mean to you? What is "everything" and...

    Do you drink tea?

I have tried to teach myself to like tea, like I did with coffee in my early teens (love it now, but try to limit my intake to 2 or so cups a week) but it's proven to be very difficult. After literally years of trying different kinds and flavours I can these days have a cup of peppermint tea...

    Like a mother to me...

Tricky situation for sure, but maybe you could ask if you could cook together instead? That way she can still feel like she's doing something very "practical" for you (which people sometimes need to do, when they feel like they can't control anything else) but you could introduce her to things...

    I need some support

Don't know where in the world you live but it could be seasonal or a vitamin D deficiency? We don't get a lot of sun (or daylight in general) in winter where I am so a lot of people feel sluggish and down this time of the year.

    Are fried chips vegan?

Depends on where in the world you live. In my area (Scandinavia) it is extremely rare to find chips fried in anything else than vegetable oil, but it's more common in other countries. In my experience, chips that you get in America, that are non-vegan are usually crispier, but I doubt I could...

    Potential vegan partner?

I always say the same thing when people have these types of dilemmas (usually friends not quite daring to approach someone they like at work because they're worried about having to work with them if it doesn't work out), if you don't give it a go you're never going to know if it had potential or...

They won't let me go vegan

I totally get what you mean re your mum and I didn't quite mean it like that. I don't think you should aim for trying to make her go vegan with you, but I think it could be helpful if you sat down and made your meal plan together. Allow her to be part of the project in that sense so that she can...

    Tofu and hormone imbalances

I would recommend going to your doctor about this. Get some blood tests done to make sure you don't have PCOS or anything similar. That's more likely to cause these kinds of problems than soy products, especially as you're clearly not eating soy for every single meal, every day of the month.

They won't let me go vegan

Hi! That sounds like a small step forward for sure. I'm so happy you dared send her some info on it and that you had a conversation about it at least. That's better than nothing. Maybe suggest sitting down together to do a one week or two week long meal plan? So plan out breakfast, snack, lunch...

    Periods, eating disorders and veganism

I went through a similar thing when I was at university and it took about 6 months for my period to come back once I started eating more again.

They won't let me go vegan

Sorry to hear about your struggles with anorexia. I used to have an eating disorder myself and my little brother was diagnosed and hospitalised with anorexia as well when he was younger so I know a bit about how it affects you, but also a family. Sounds like your mum is worried about you and of...
