New sofa is leather, ordered before becoming aware

I've felt the same, not with couches but with accessories and shoes that I had in the pre-vegan days which are leather. I sold a leather wallet I had on eBay (couldn't bear to throw it out but didn't want it anymore either!) and with shoes that I had, I made the decision to wear them out rather...

Why is going green the new going broke?

I too think it can be a matter of where you shop. I feel like the trends towards veganism, whole foods and healthy eating can mean that places put a premium on certain foods (I'm looking at you, kale and quinoa!) because they're seen as "cool" now. I find if you're sensible about where you shop...

The Top Vegan Doughnut Shops in the States

That's good to know about that trick to give it the fluffy texture. I've used apple sauce to replace eggs in cakes, muffins and cupcakes - but never thought about it in a doughnut capacity. If it doesn't seem to work too well though, that's useful advice too!

    Introvert or Extrovert?

I often wish that I was more outgoing too. I feel like it would be a whole lot easier to connect with people if I could be outgoing right away, rather than having to hope they'll open up to me and then I'll slowly but surely feel more comfortable around them!

    Supplements?

I don't really take supplements or anything. Maybe on the odd occasion but for the most part I feel like I'm getting what I need to from my diet. I actually feel much better overall since transitioning to a vegan lifestyle. As they say "let your food be thy medicine, and let thy medicine be your...

    Thai food!

Oh yes, I've been to Thailand once (I tripped all throughout South East Asia) and it's one of my favorite travel destinations! I also found it was very vegetarian and vegan friendly - at least I certainly found it that way. And yes - tropical fruit galore was one of the best things about being...

    Birkenstocks

I saw this article about types of Birkenstocks that are vegan friendly. http://www.bustle.com/articles/99798-are-birkenstocks-vegan-some-of-them-are-so-you-can-definitely-snag-cruelty-free-versions Pre-veganism I used to love Birkenstocks, so I was reassured to know there are still styles that...

Athletes you didn't know were vegan

I saw this article online and was surprised with a couple of the big names I weren't aware were vegan like Carl Lewis and Mike Tyson. http://www.cheatsheet.com/health-fitness/10-male-athletes-you-didnt-know-were-vegan.html/?a=viewall Any other athletes you know that have a vegan diet?

How does being a vegan affect our health?

I found this was definitely the case for me. When I was researching vegetarianism/veganism more, I really was conscious about researching ways to ensure I was meeting requirements for all the major nutrients. I can only say good things about how I feel like it's affected my health. I feel...

What food do you take on a camping trip?

For me it's mainly beans, rice, fruit and veggies. Baked potatoes are a big one for me too (same as you, @Alexia !). For fruit I usually bring bananas or apples - I find they hold up the best in a backpack! Yes, not the fanciest of menus - that's true - but it keeps me sustained and doesn't...

White Cane Sugar and Animal Bone Char

This was one of the things I had the hardest time wrapping my head around - until I found out more about the process of getting sugar to the state we see it in when it's in the supermarket. The first thing that came to my mind was "but sugar is a plant - what's happening to it by the time it's...

Vegan chocolate may not be so vegan

Good to know about that particular brand - I would feel much more confident consuming their chocolate than others that may not be produced in the same sort of all vegan factory environment. I'll have to check and see if anywhere around here stocks it. It's a little disappointing though that...
