    Eliminating Dairy Saves Water

@Lou , have you read up on the detail of how these quantities of water (and for rhat matter carbon) are reached for producing the various commodities of beef, cereals, soy, corn etc?

    Define factory farming.

Thanks Lou, it sounds like we are singing from the same song sheet with regards to the definition. I"m pleased to say that most milk and beef produced in fhe UK isnt factory farmed based on that criteria. Chickens (meat) probably are mainly factory farmed. Eggs have moved away from factory type...

    Define factory farming.

Factory farming is an often used term, but is actually a nonsense phrase. When you use it what do you envisage?

Do you have a link to the studies from Oxford and Harvard?

We are on the up and up

It is just a promotional claim by a corporation that they can make with little chance of a detrimental outcome the blurb might attract a few sales from the gullible, the majority of vegans will see it for what it is, and meat / dairy consumers wont take any notice and continue to use a product...

    Wife began eating meat

Imagine if the OP had been a meat eater, and had come on here to ask advice because his wife had chosen to become Vegan. A complete mirror image of the actual events. My comments would still be applicable, possibly a little harsh but I come from a region where the norm is to say what you think...

    The threat of enviromental damage

Jamie, if you have to feed 20kg of corn to get 1 kg of beef you had better stop immediately. 6.5 kg is the actual benchmark for corn fed beef, and if you dont believe me just ponder the fact that a prepared corn meal for cattle would cost around 20p per kg which equates to £1.30 to produce 1 kg...

    The threat of enviromental damage

This is the article which explains the missunderstanding, https://theconversation.com/yes-eating-meat-affects-the-environment-but-cows-are-not-killing-the-climate-94968 Perhaps as an earth science graduate you can run through how cattle eating vegetative matter are anything other than carbon...

    The threat of enviromental damage

Many a true word spoken in jest, but this image fairly represents what I think the OP is questioning. For those that aren't aware the study that exagerated the effect of animal farming compared to other industrial processes was admitted to be substantially flawed by its author, unfortunately...

    Wife began eating meat

You might dislike my opinion, and it was based on a small snapshot of your circumstances, but you sought advice and that is what i offered. Perhaps its a case of the truth hurts.

    Wife began eating meat

You need to get a grip Colin, your wife is entitled to a free choice about politics, religion, work, diet and a whole host of other life choices. If you have lost your love for her because she has, for whatever reason, chosen to alter her beliefs on one specific topic then that says more about...

    Something to ponder

This is the lounge area where we are invited to discuss any particular topic that might prove interesting, if it's not of interest then the discussion will die, if it gets abusive it will be killed!! Following on from an earlier thread, but quite by accident, I came across this video, perhaps...

    Thin and flabby skin

I would make an appointment to see your doctor, you are obviously concerned about it and for peace of mind a checking over will do no harm and potentially catch an ailment sooner rather than later. It might or might not be diet related but stressing about it wont help.

    Star trek or star wars?

L Both those explain buoyancy, you haven't explained why everything on earth moves towards the centre of the earth, that is, when two heavier than air objects are released, they both accelerate in the same direction. Which force dictates the direction in which they travel?

Honest, when we saw him, if he moved out of a 10 ft square area i must have blinked and missed it. Good tunes though, another artist who starts singing a song and you think crikey, i forgot he did that, and yet i know all the words...
