According to the United States Department of Agriculture, there has been a recent, rapid rise in bean/lentil/pea consumption in the United States.

The "peas and lentils" legume group has really grown in popularity. According to the USDA, this is because hummus has become so popular
This chart only goes up to 2017. I'm guessing that bean consumption is even higher now, because of the mainstream popularity of Beyond Meat and the Impossible Burger.
Pretty good news, eh?
