Adf.ly poses as a legit site that allows businesses to earn money for each visit. It supposedly just pops up an ad before taking the visitor to the intended site.
However, if you are attempting to download a file, and adf.ly pops up, get out immediately and don't download the file!!!
As I said in the title, it will hijack your browser, and redirect you to all sorts of unwanted sites. AV programs will not protect you against it (as they don't consider it a virus, and Malwarebytes doesn't completely get rid of it)
Further warning - if you download the file, it will "ask" you if you want obvious junk files. Even if you decline the junk file, it WILL still install them.
