The key ingredient for this recipe is definitely the DATES!
They add an entire other level of natural sweetness and deliciousness to your banana pancakes.
Dates are also packed with nutritional fiber and micro-nutrients such as potassium (more per gram than bananas) and will boost the nutritional value of your pancakes, as well as sweetening them naturally.
You can add dates to any pancake recipe and naturally sweeten them, but here is one simple recipe if you are looking for something new.
Ingredients needed (for 6 to 8 pancakes):
Mix all the ingredients nicely together either in a blender (preferably) or a food processor.
Step 2:
Heat up a pan on medium heat and add 1 tsp of "butter" or cooking spray/oil.
Pour approximately 1/4 cup (depending on the pancake size you desire) of the mix for each pancake on the hot pan. Flip once the top turns golden brown (approx. 2-3 mins) and cook the other side until it becomes a golden brown color as well (approx. 1-2 mins).
And repeat (add more "butter" if necessary).
Step 3:
That's it, they are ready. Now enjoy your nutritious and naturally sweetened pancakes with your favorite toppings!
One classic group of toppings that you cannot go wrong with are banana slices, raspberries, and of course, maple syrup.
You can incorporate dates into any of your favorite pancake recipes, and enjoy the added natural and nutritious sweetness they bring. Let us know how you like to sweeten your pancakes and share with us your favorite pancake recipe.
