A law? I don't understand how a government thinks it can regulate affection. Certainly laws against abuse are necessary, but that kind of law seems unenforceable.

I've heard it said that emotional abuse causes more damage than physical abuse. I would think it would be a whole lot harder to prove though.

The very nature of laws meant to protect often do the opposite. Children spend the first 18 years of their life in daycare or school, and the providers of their care can end up in jail for being anything more than a mindless robot. A teacher giving a student a hug is putting his or her career and freedom in jeopardy.

My guess is that this will be another 'witch hunt' law.

They'se bound to drown a few genuine witches.

That's pretty much just a statistical guarantee of chucking lots of people in the duck pond though.
