Man convicted over Facebook ‘likes’ in defamation case

In a landmark trial, a Swiss man has received a suspended sentence and a CHF4,000 ($4,000) fine in a defamation case which involved him “liking” Facebook posts that accused an animal rights activist of racism and anti-Semitism.....

Wow!

Especially as the "Animal rights activist" mentioned in the article is indeed a vile antisemite that has also been legally sentenced in court for his racist and antisemitic statements. I am very familiar with both him and the people accusing him.

It comes quite as a surprise to me that somebody who "likes" a post calling him out on that on facebook (actually he also made a few comments) would now be sentenced for doing so ! (I am only writing this here as I am not in Switzerland, and hence reasonably safe)

Also, I just read that about a dozen of people (many of them fellow vegans) have been sued by the plaintiff in a total of 40 court filings ... so more to come.
