In October, Teri James says her supervisor at San Diego Christian College called her to her office and got straight to the point: Was James pregnant?

James, 29, of El Cajon, Calif., was indeed pregnant – and she was also unmarried, a violation of school rules, according to the lawsuit she filed in San Diego County superior court. She says she was fired because, as the termination letter included in the suit stated: “Teri engaged in activity outside the scope of the Handbook and Community Covenant that does not build up the college’s mission.”

[...]

Also insulting, James said, was that after firing her, the school offered a job to her then-fiancé – they are now married – even though it was known that he, too, engaged in premarital sex. He did not accept the job, she said.

- Today.

She's suing, of course.

So she lied to get the job.

I hate clauses like that. Employment is not an agreement between equals, and its disgusting that an employer can enforce morality clauses on their employees.

But the reason I posted this, the reason I thought this story was a tad more exceptional, was that the school then offered the job to the fiancé. It seems to be a bit of a double standard going on.

This reminds me of a related "issue" where I work. One of the managers complains about the high rate of FLMA usage in his department. But almost all of the the people on his staff are young women. It doesn't take much to understand that young woemen are more likely to use FLMA at a higher rate than other groups.

The solution is simple. Diversify the staff. Maybe some older women or even *gasp* some men. But this manager seems stuck on the idea, that young women are the best people for the job (Provider services call center)

As a Christian myself, this is not a shock to me that this place is throwing stones at people, I think Christian employeers needs to get out of the choices and bedrooms of their employees and allow them to still work. For years I wanted to get into a Christian job or career up until I was having loads of stones thrown at me from various things in my private life and I will not tolerate that.

It angers me that there is still a double standard applied to men and women in the workplace, but it doesn't surprise me because it's been like that for a long time. It's egregious cases like this that stand out because gender equality laws have chipped away at the double standard. But it still exists.

At the secular company I used to work for between 1999 and 2009, one year they hired the teenage daughter of another employee to be an office assistant for the summer. She was caught "doing the nasty", as my supervisor called it, with a male employee a few years her senior in a stairwell. The girl was fired - but not the male employee. I didn't think that was fair at all.

Amy I think both of them should've been fired if they were doing things at the job site. This is another reason why I am nervous going back to the work force because people wants to have pleasure at strange places rather doing their jobs.
Back to this Christian colleges, Also just came to mind that these Christians forget that we are all human and we all make mistakes and they are the ones that are doing wrong with judgeing with that holier then thou attidude and throwing stones.
I know off topic but, my pastor told us about a few weeks back of the worship leader, that his testimony about his life and why it changed him he was going to speak at a church, this guy was all set up to go , getting excited to share his experience what he went through with his life and to warn people about it, but the church that he was going to speak too contacted him at the last min and said that they had voted on having him speak and they are not allowing him to speak because of the nature of the speech he was going to do , they thought it was too sinful for him to speak in front of his church. Then this guy contacted our pastor and our pastor said you need to be Thankful for our church and we don't tolerate that holier then thou and stone throwing at people.
I think there is alot of modern day pharisee's living in today's world because you can see it in the news and you can see it at alot of Churches especially Baptist type churches, I will never go back to another Baptist type church no more because of the holier then thou attitude they have.
