Social Media Google Plus is being phased out?

From what I understand what they're working on doing is breaking up the components of Google+ into their own apps. Google Streams, Google Hangouts, etc. They're just going to cease from pushing it as the bundled site "Google+". From all I've read I suspect that the author of this article simply failed to do his homework.

Ugh, whatever they do, I hope they change the new Hangouts app. I liked the 'old' layout where you had a window with your contacts list that you could just minimize whenever you wanted. Now there's this weird tab-thingie that gets attached to your browser and is just horrible.

That is probably a wise decision now, given that G+ has sort of failed to knock FB off the throne as the most popular social network. It might be easier to grow their user base piece by piece (feature by feature i.e. app by app) instead of all in one go.

Absolutely agree, it is wise... Perhaps at launch it was too different from Facebook and Twitter. People hate change, they were more inclined to stick with things that are familiar.
