I am trying to install new CD burning software that says it requires Windows Media Player version 9 or higher. I am running Windows 7 but can't seem to tell which version of Windows Media Player I have.
Usually there is an "About _____" under Help that spells out the version number, but I cannot find this or anything similar in Windows Media Player.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure Win 7 is pre-installed with version 12 of the player.

If you want to verify, you might try- Start> Computer> Local Disk (C:)> Program Files> Windows Media Player. In the Player menu, just point at "wmplayer," and it should tell you what file version it is.

This worked like a charm. You get a "tool tip" type rectangular box that gives you the file version. And yes, it is 12.0.something. Thank you very much! :)
