Does anyone else do any intermittent fasting? I find it helps clear my system and my mind. It gives me a lot more time in the day to do other stuff, as my vegan eating takes some time. I do the Warrior Fast daily, as I eat in a 5-hour window, from 8 a.m. to about 1 p.m. Then, I fast every other day or so, on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. Just have tea in the morning after my first walk of the day. I like peppermint tea in the winter--takes the place of candy canes, for me! I avoid most sugary treats, and stick to dried fruits and low-sugar granolas and bars. How about you? What does your general food plan look like? : )

I could not restrict my eating to such a small window — I would be ravenous by 8 p.m., lol. I don’t like a big breakfast, and I tend to eat at least two hours after I wake up. I usually work out before I eat as well. Lunch is lighter than dinner, which is my big meal because I am a night owl and stay up late. If I have a big dinner, I tend to snack less. I also don’t think I could fast every other day.

I don’t eat a ton of candy, but I do enjoy dark chocolate and home-baked desserts. I have been trying to cut down on them and am shooting for a treat just once a week.

I haven't been keeping up with intermittent fasting research. I used to be sure it was just a fad diet but now I'm not so sure.
However just because it has lasted ten or more years doesn't automatically give it validity. just like Keto.
There is not that much evidence based science research supporting it. But there is some.
And the proponents mostly categorize it as a weight loss diet not a lifestyle.

For most people it is hard to maintain. But we are all different. so if it makes you feel good then keep doing it.

And for most people, snacking after 8 pm is where they eat their worse foods. so stopping doing that is going to be good for you.

Agreed. Different things work for different people. I try to listen to my hunger cues as much as possible and don't necessarily adhere to three squares a day at certain times, etc. Some days I have just two meals, but on other days I'm hungrier, so I'll eat more.

I have followed an eight hour eating window when I went over the weight I tolerated. I easily lost those 10 pounds, and did feel pretty great- all wfpb.

My problem is I have always easily skip till evening to eat. I rarely wake up hungry, and when I do, I still don't want anything for hours. I eat breakfast 4-5 hours after waking, and eat lunch as a matter of course. In the evening, regardless of what I've eaten that day, I want to eat! I've already had to change my nature of liking night shift!
I did very well eating from 9 am to 5 or 6 pm and am trying to get back in line
My biggest problem was coming home exhausted and diving into bad carbs, then eating dinner. The physical parts of my job have lessened, so I can and should maybe join a gym or get into better exercise routine

Diet influencers are always talking about Metabolism. And I always thought it was just pseudo science. and maybe it is.
I always had trouble losing weight. and always was hungry . and ate snacks at night.
But after I lost a lot of weight... now I have no problem maintaining a good weight. I hardly ever get hungry. I just eat meals at meal time. ( I do snack in the evening - just a bad habit).
So maybe there is something to this "metabolism thing"

we only eat twice a day and that is because we both work from home and so have lots of flexibility

we have coffee only until around 12 - 1 pm and then eat a good size meal and then eat dinner around 7-9 pm and the size of that meal depends on how much we ate for lunch and how late we ate it

occasionally I will have a light snack in the late afternoon but very rarely

so in summary we sort of intermitent fast every day as we usually don't eat from 8pm until noon/one o'clock - despite being a couch potato I have managed to keep my weight fairly even although I could do with about 5-8 less pounds

Honestly, there is some gender bias, look it up!

Yeah, those late night carbs will get ya! My problem is the TV--when it's on, I automatically want something crunchy! Popcorn Syndrome, I guess. Goes
along with movies. I salivate on command like Pavlov's dog! So, I find that I can at least make up for any late night snacking with a day to clear out the system. I just keep busy--good day to clean the house! I'm not a breakfast person, either, but I feel better when I make myself eat early in the day. Thanks for being out there and imperfect, too, silva! : )
