Largest Ivory Bonfire - Kenya

the need to have a program, like they do with rhinos, whereby they saw off the tusks and replace them with artificial tusks. Apparently elephants need their tusks, unlike rhinos with their horns.

I watched this on TV. It seems the right thing to do, and the reasons given by the government seemed convincing. Why should we allow any trade in ivory at all? It's exploitation, plain and simple, and burning the ivory sends a signal to everyone that ivory trade and artefacts are Wrong.

if they had sold the ivory, that just feeds the market and creates more demand. Compare the size of that heap of tusks to the size of China......
