Madeleine McCann Case on Crimewatch

Detectives have released two e-fit images of the man based on the accounts of two separate witnesses.

Both described seeing him in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on the evening of the three-year-old's disappearance on Thursday, May 3, 2007.

I watched the programme the other night and 3 questions came to mind :

Why is Scotland Yard opening up a new investigation ? It is costing the UK tax payer £11 million per year.

Why are the hundreds of other child abduction cases not getting the same attention ?

Do the police really think that it is realistic to think that someone will recognise the e fits of a man who is of interest 6 years on ?

I haven't read that much about this case but I agree that the fixation on this one child abduction seems unfair.

I know that they want to do anything to get their daughter back, but it's been going on for too long now. The kid will either be dead, or be locked up somewhere and resurface in 10 years. She would not be parading around in public so she can be spotted and matched to her CGI photo.

i dont understand how they can still be releasing new information. what new is left to say?!

I dont think the story would prevent future abductions - its basically saying how hard it is to be caught

I'm not an expert at all and in a rush at the moment, but do you mean abductions of UK kids in Portugal, or in the UK in general?

It is certainly most unfair to all the other missing children and their parents.

When you see the alarming statistics of abducted children in the UK, it only proves that many kidnappers and murderes are getting away with these crimes. There are many unsolved crimes an far too many children being abducted. In this particular case, the children were left alone in an unlocked flat.
