I'm guessing Lupo is the Cocker. I want to know who the Golden Retriever is.

Don't care about the other things.

I thought it was a rug !
I think I have more hair than Prince William, despite being 6 years older. Definitely longer, at least.

I hope that he doesn't lose all of it as it has been thinning a lot.

I like photos of parents with their newly born that include their pets. So many people leave out their pets
when baby arrives.

That's a good point. My nephew and his wife have a miniature poodle, but I haven't seen him in the pics I've gotten of the new parents and their baby. I think I will ask them to send me pics of the four of them all together. :)

That was the message that I was trying to convey with the photos. :)

As you can see in the before baby photos, Wills seems to be spoiling Lupo and treating him like a baby. The fact that Lups is in the very 1 st family photo means that he is still loved as much. Furthermore, I saw an interview of William yesterday where he mentions how Lupo has gotten used to the idea that there is a baby and that he is doing fine. Lovely that he mentions his pet at this very special moment in his life.

I know many people who have given their pets away when they have had a baby. It is very sad for the pets to be abandoned. Most pets love babies and are happy to sit near them and are great companions .

Other brilliant thing about Lupo is that he is just a pet. Known the royals and how much they hunt when I first saw the photos I just assumed that Lupo would be a working gundog. But his tail isn't docked which means it more than likely that he is just a pet.
(Only puppies which are being sold to work are allowed to have docked tails. )

That's really sad. :( Dogs especially love babies and they see a baby as the newest member of the pack. When they're allowed to, they can become very loving and protective of this newest pack member. I wish more new parents would understand this.

Anybody else thing it would be awesome to be a prince and have others train your dogs and you get a well mannered, well trained dog w/o the work?

You can already do that if you have the money/are willing to buy from a breeder.

There's plenty of gundog kennels which will breed their own pups and/or buy puppies from a working line, then train the dog up to work, and then sell them on. Sometimes, they end up with dogs that can't work for some reason or another so they sell them as pet only homes. (Our Lab was that. She's too people friendly so wouldn't have made it as a gundog as she would go say hello to everybody. Hence why they sold her. She is the best behaved dog we've ever had though. )

It happens way too often. It's one of main reasons why so many shelters are filled to capacity. It's horrible.

Glad to see that won't be the case here (or at least so far).

My parents got a lovely male collie when I was born so that my older sister would have a distraction. He looked like Lassie and was named Sean, and he was so wonderful with us and our friends. Every photo taken outside in the yard had Sean in it, whether planned or not. He'd see that camera and come flying over, so there was always at least his nose in the shot. :p.

He used to sleep under the baby carriage when we were babies and my mom put us out for fresh air. I think Sean made our family better, and so did the little poodle mix that came when Sean was 2 or 3.

My friends have a new baby and a dog that they've had for a few years and they were in the back yard and a chicken had gotten out of her enclosure so my friend put the baby down on the grass while she went and wrangled the chicken back and Tinker (the dog) was extremely worried about the baby, possibly being killed and eaten by the chicken, and she sat right next to him and guarded him with vigor and determination and it was, by all accounts, adorable.

I remember reading how the Queen is quite fond of dogs. Looks like her grandson may be like her.
William is like his Dad as well than.Prince Charles loves dogs too.

I love the picture but I wish the golden retriever would have been sitting up more.I would have liked to see the entire family a little more clearly.

That is such a lovely heart warming story.

I gather that it is the Middleton's dog who looks more interested in having a nap.
