Nelson Mandela a terrorist?

The article is from 2008 so hopefully they've fixed it by now.

But yeah, it's interesting to think about how they got on the terrorist list in the first place. I guess the US and Apartheid Africa were best buddies. (Well them, and Israel.)

Israel is more of a plucky sidekick. Like Birdboy, Kid Flash, or Spidermonkey.

The article doesn't give any specific examples of Mandela doing terrorist acts. Why would the US government put him on their terrorist list?

It's mentioned here that he was killing farmers. Could that be the reason why he'd be on the terrorist list? He'd be just another person our society admires whom has a lot wrong with them.
I'd be hesitant in trusting random anonymous people on the Internet. Mandela was convicted by the Apartheid court of "inciting workers' strikes and leaving the country without permission" and "four counts of sabotage and conspiracy to violently overthrow the government". The Wikipedia article on Mandela says he took part in sabotage and had plans to engage in guerilla warfare against the Apartheid government. I guess that makes him a terrorist by some definitions, but the widely accepted illegitimacy of the Apartheid government and its methods of oppression make a strong case for "freedom fighter" or "militant" being fairer terms to describe Mandela.

Multiple administrations of the US government kept him on the terrorist list, so more than likely he was a terrorist. It seems to me that South Africa's crime rate rose under Mandela. He may not be the person we make him out to be. There's even questions regarding Mother Teresa. The New World Order picks some strange people we're supposed to admire.

I suspect at least some of those administrations didn't do that on purpose and are embarrassed about it. Or at least they should be. In any case "terrorist" is a somewhat subjective term.

There may be perfectly understandable reasons for the crime rate rising. That alone doesn't make Mandela a bad person. The people who served as presidents after him on the other hand ... S.A. is in a sad shape today unfortunately.
