Question? What exactly is this nutritional yeast I'm hearing about? I'm sure it's different from the yeast in the baking aisle in the grocery store? Should I look for it in my local health food store?

It is indeed. It is NOT active yeast like brewer's yeast. Here ya go: Nutritional yeast - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I was leery at first, too.... but still curious. Now I am HOOKED on this stuff!! :D It's amazing. And it is SOOO good for you!! I use it in absolutely everything I cook now, and as additional seasoning. It adds a fantastic flavor to everything since I never use salt.

Do yourself a favor & get some nooch!

Nooch is just so super tasty & cheesy & versatile, I even stopped using Parmesan on my pizza & pasta.... nooch all the way, baby!! ;) (dashes off to dump a bunch of nooch in the currently-cooking pasta sauce)

I know my local health food store carries Kal as well their own bulk nutritional yeast... and most grocery stores should carry Bragg, maybe Bob's Red Mill....

Be sure to one with B12! Nutritional yeast is known as a source of B12, but they don't all have it. I asked at Whole Foods because the label was too worn too read--they have Red Star, but not the fortified one--in the bulk bin. I never get it in bulk anyway.
I didn't really care for it in the beginning, I think my first tub was only use on popcorn (really good!). Now I get Bob's Red Mill and sprinkle it on everything
I'm obsessed with buttahed toast with nooch and a bit of black salt

I have found using a acid like lemon or vinegar in nooch sauces really 'brightens' the flavor, and garlic

Thanks so much!!!!! I'm going to go looking this weekend for some nooch! :D:D

Oh, the popcorn! I'm gonna hafta make a big batch tomorrow. Just organic popcorn, popped on the stove in evoo, seasoned with only onion powder, dill weed, & nooch. SOOOO GOOOOD!!!!

I recommend keeping the bag well sealed in the fridge and keeping an old spice container with big holes and a screw on top for daily use.
A container that held spices, not stinky mens cologne, just to clarify...

I just keep refilling my old Bragg container kept in the fridge. :) I notice the big container of Kal is going to need replacing very soon.... LOL

Just be careful... it's highly addictive.

 LMFAO :p

Hahahahaha!!!!:p:D:) That's hilarious!!! I like the idea of putting the nooch on pasta instead of Parmesan cheese. Ooooooh and I bet it is good on veggies like green beans!!! I just got up and got some wasabi peas to snack on since I have the munchies now ;)

I like to buy it from the bulk bin since I use it a lot, it's about half the price that way.

I've started using it when I make garlic bread (sprinkle it on top of the butter and garlic, then broil) and my roommate was saying how good it has been lately. She doesn't know the secret. ;)

I also like to add Earth Balance and nut yeast (and sometimes a wee bit of plain almond milk), along with some spices, to spaghetti and broccoli. It might sound weird but it's delicious.

I do both garlic bread and spaghetti that way. I use the Silk creamer instead of almond milk though.
