News Palestinians to join ICC

I think they may be even more useless than the UN. Most of the people they've indicted are fugitives (apparently war criminals do not simply show up to trial upon request), and all are African.

The various international organizations have become completely complacent. If they value the laws they desire to enforce they'd better grow some teeth, otherwise all the individual countries that rely on them will have no choice but to disregard international law for their own protection.

I think joining the ICC and other international bodies is a necessary step, but not a step that on its own will bring about an end to the occupation.

The major obstacle is the fanatical support Israel enjoys in the US for everything they do. Because of this, Israel has no real incentive to change. Recently under the Obama administration there has been a growing tension between the two governments, but essentially it's still business as usual. The US will veto/block any attempt at ending the occupation in the UN security council, and financial and military support will continue as before.

What could eventually lead to a change for the better is changing demographics, both in the US and in Israel and Palestine.

Launching rockets into a country that is occupying your own country, is that really a war crime?

I wasn't aware of that. It's probably the continent that poses the smallest threat to the world too.

They've indicted truly deserving people like the infamous Kony, but yeah, bringing him in is another story, and relies on the actions of forces willing to, well, use force, something which international organizations are notoriously reluctant to do.

That might be one of the reasons why they haven't, to date, wasted their time going after anyone out of Africa. Suppose they did indict someone in Israel for some type of war crimes. Then what? Invade Isreal with a coalition force to bring that person in? Black ops snatch and grab? Unstable African countries are the only areas where organizations like the U.N. really have any leverage against the governments (assuming there is one) of the countries in which they operate. And the U.S., usually one of the only countries willing to do that type of dirty work, is not part of the ICC.
