Okay we are somewhat lacking the rest of Europe, so I thought I would ask in here. I am vegan and going for Paris for a few days next year (a Christmas present from my Fiance! how exciting!), my fiance found a long list of vegetarian/vegan restaurants in Paris which looks promising, but was wondering if anybody had any recommendations /advice at all? Is there anywhere I really must go, anything I should look out for? :)

Thanks guys!

There is a Paris thread on The Vegan Forum with personal recommendations but I haven't been to Paris as a vegan so I can't be any more help.:)

I've been to Paris as a vegan, though this was back in 2004. While France in general has a bad reputation amongst veg*ns (and they deserve it ...), Paris does have quite a few vegan-friendly restaurants. I had some vegan junk food at La Victoire Suprême du Cœur (now closed) and enjoyed the cosy atmosphere at the Aquarius. Also ate at Au Grain de Folie (non-impressive food) and Le Grenier de Notre Dame. My favourite would be the Aquarius, but I see that this has now some less than sparkling reviews on their limited vegan options. In any case, when I was there in 2004 I was able to get some interesting stuff such as potato wine, and the vegan food I had was very nice. I guess Le Grenier would be the next on my list. I remember them playing some really funky music, and the food was somewhat "artistic" but acceptable / good.
