This may be dumb, but I am having trouble scrolling. By this I mean that either I have difficulty getting the scroll bar to move in the first place, or, if I do get it to move, it scrolls like crazy and will not stop. Any tricks to cope with this? Is there some sort of setting in Windows that you can set to control the scroll speed?

I think we may need some more details ... Is this Windows 7? Is this in a browser? Are you using a mouse or a touchpad? If a mouse, are you using the mouse wheel? If a touchpad, make sure not to put your finger too far to the right or bottom of the pad - I think those areas are for moving the mouse pointer really fast or far ...

Yes.

Is this in a browser?

Sometimes. But it seems more pronounced of a problem when I am scrolling through a listing of files in a directory using Windows Explorer.

Are you using a mouse or a touchpad?

I use both. But it seems to be much more of a problem when I am using the touchpad.

I've never used a mouse wheel for scrolling.

Good tip. I had no idea different areas of the touchpad were designed to do different things.

I hate those hotspots on the touchpad. I always turn them off.
