UK Hedgehogs in Peril - Mild Winter

That's heartbreaking. Thanks for sharing.
I saw some ladybirds crawling in my garden yesterday when I picked some rocket... it just felt all wrong.

It is so sad as hedghogs are such lovely creatures. Many of them get runover by cars and now they are
battling with our mild winters.

Happily we have many animal welfare associations that are taking the matter seriously.

Yes, we've seen them on the roads here at night and don't one tiny bit mind holding up the traffic whilst we whip a dust pan & brush out of the boot (comes in very handy) and gently easy the frightened little hedgehog on it to help him cross the road.
I am pleased to see who movements taking care of them.

I had never thought of that; what a brilliant idea. I'll buy an extra one to keep in my boot. I have already nearly
run one over and the other day stopped for one that was working out if he was going to cross the road.

It happened at first by accident, we just happened to have them in the car when we saw one half way across, frozen with fear.... then we thought - what an excellent idea to keep them in the car.
