Hello Everyone,

I always make my own but sometimes it's just more convenient to buy a sandwich but all I can find are Hummus and Falafel. Does anyone know of other ones you can buy and how often do you buy sandwiches?

I rarely buy sandwiches (and rarely eat them lol). Usually my local Coop has at least a few vegan deli sandwiches. For example, one with quinoa, cranberries, spinach, vegan mayo or something like that. On rare occasion I might grab an Amy's frozen bean burrito. There are several that are vegan, and even one gluten free vegan one. I don't know of any other commercial vegan sandwiches at least at any stores around me. Some people get veggie subs with white bread at Subway but that just seems so unappealing to me.

I love to make chickpea salad sandwiches ahead for day hikes or trips out of town. It is so easy to make. I just open and rinse a can of chickpeas and add to a large bowl. I mash them down with a potato masher. Then add chopped celery and onion, and vegan mayo (either Just Mayo, Vegannaise, or make my own cashew or almond based mayo). I sprinkle on some black pepper and spread the mix on about three or four sandwiches and I am good to go.

I've also done peanut butter and banana sandwiches and usually save those for a long intense snowshoe or canoeing long distance etc because they have so much staying power.

Amazing, that you can even find hummus and falafel sandwiches at all!
None like that in a typical German supermarket or deli.
I have in my office an "iron reserve" of vegan sandwich spread so I can make my own.

Wow, Robin, that Chickpea sandwich sounds awesome! Must try that out, great idea. Kind of like a vegan tuna sandwich.

It depends on where you live. For most people, the best they can hope to get is a veggie delight without cheese from Subway.

If you live in a city, there should be at least a few sandwich shops that have a veggie sandwich option, but most of them are little more than a green salad between two slices of bread.

Really the best way to get a variety of vegan sandwiches is to find a "health food" store that has deli section, or just make your own.

No pre-made vegan sandwiches anywhere around here. :(

That, indeed. Of course, in virtually any custom-made sandwich shop, you should be able to get a vegan sandwich.

But - Lo and behold - the last time I was at Subway (December 30, in Prague), they even had FALAFEL as a new option!!!!
Plus the avocado option, I was virtually in heaven.

However, when I hear "vegan sandwich", I typically think of something like this:

Subway is the only "custom made" sandwich shop around here, and none of the Subways here have falafel as an option...so I stand by my statement that it depends on where you live.:p
