Would you rather be a dog or a cat?

Although I love cats as well, I prefer dogs. I would choose the dog. I would choose to be a male dog (or even a female dog), living with just one older man who loved me very much and would take me out for, say, 40-60 minute-long walks every day. I would be a very loyal companion and comfort to him. I may even be a therapy dog either for him, or for other people, or both.
What species (out of these two) would you choose to be?

I'm going to say dog. I'm not really a cat person so please don't be offended. I feel dogs are just generally happy animals.

I think I would be more of a cat than a dog, personally.

Cats are too independent for my liking. I like dogs much more. You can have a good relationship with a dog and they are so sympathetic/empathic.
