The poor mite has no mum. I wonder why animals reject their new born ?

Well, it would make evolutionary sense to reject a newborn that was deformed or weak. That way you can focus your energy strong healthy kittens. Some animals in the wild will reject weaker siblings and some quick googling seems to suggest domestic cats will reject young which are weak or unhealthy too.

Janus is a rare defect in animals that their face duplicates. They very rarely live past a few days because of other defects like a cleft pallet and other abnormalities that make it difficult to eat.
