Amanda Knox's Book Release and TV Interview

Why are they retrying her case in Italy? I thought she was acquitted.

And if you're really dying to read it, you can always pick up a copy of her book while you're here in the US. :D

Italy's highest court has overturned the aquittal.

I'm not 'dying' to read the book, however if it is available at the local library where I'm staying in California, I certainly would be interested to read what she has to say. However, I wouldn't buy it and don't believe that she
is innocent.
I really feel sorry for Meredith's family as they have to endure so much pain, not knowing what really happened to their daughter.

Just posted a link to this case in the news thread...didn't see this thread. I always felt that she was innocent but I have some doubts now. Not sure why. Would like to see if I can catch her interview with Diane Sawyer. It was on last night.

The prosecutor in that case is insane. It seems like he would have been fired after that Monster of Florence debacle.

Foxy seems like such a nice lady! How can a nice lady do such a horrible and sinister thing? And allegedly be involved in such ... unusual bedroom activities. Unthinkable! No, no, I just can't bring myself to believe it. And she's been through so much already, won't they ever leave her alone!?

It's lucky that she's got such a great stage presence. And I'm sure her daddy's money have helped too!

That said, she could well be innocent.

Are you implying that's the level of thinking of Knox supporters? I could direct you to a thread on another forum that would allow you to test that hypothesis if you like.

Personally, I'm not an expert on the case or anything, but the idea of Amanda, her boyfriend of 1 week and some guy (Rudy) they seemingly barely knew all deciding to team up and murder Meredith seems far fetched. And from what I've seen, the evidence seems weak.

No, that's probably more typical of the level of thinking of those of us who have followed the case without any deep interest from the comfort of our coaches with a big bowl of popcorn and presented to us by the often superficial and uncritical news shows. Is that the average news audience? The average Knox supporter? I don't know.

I would agree. But then I don't know the details of the case...

I am confused by this:

"In the end, this tragedy is about two very provincial families, one from suburban Seattle, one from north London, who have no idea what happened and who will never get answers, no matter how much money gets thrown around, no matter how many television interviews are granted,or books written or even court reviews concluded. No, they won't get answers until Rudy Guede -- whose fingerprints and DNA were in the room, who is in prison for the killing and who has never denied being present while Kercher bled to death -- explains what really happened."

If Guede was convicted of the killing and serving time, why are they still going after Knox and Sollecito? As accomplices?

Your previous post about Knox seemed as if you had been following the case enough to sling barbs her way.

The prosecution has been making the case that Amanda, Raffaelle and Rudy all killed Meredith together.

I haven't followed the case, other than what the headlines have screamed over the years on various news sites. However, I did read the transcript of one of the interviews Knox gave recently. Her desire to talk to the victim's family and visit the victim's grave, in light of the fact fact that the victim's family believes that she was involved in the murder, is so completely blind to or uncaring of the feelings of the victim's family that it seems to me that it's only explainable as part of a personality disorder or the thinking of a sociopath/psychopath.

I agree with this. Sociopath is what popped into my mind, no empathy whatsoever towards what the victims family is feeling.

But...but...Amanda and Raffaele COULDN'T have had anything to do with it! They're so pretty and white! It was all that evil black man!

Maybe I'm naive, but I don't think they had anything to do with the murder.

I don't want to believe they are guilty. I just don't know and can't make a judgement one way or the other. I would make a sucky juror.

To be fair to Snowcone, I have to say that I haven't seen the kind of support for the black guy that I see for Knox. (I'm not talking about this thread or anyone who has posted here, but rather about the internet and the public at large, much of whom seem to be completely convinced of either her innocence or her guilt.)

And of course, the killing of attractive, young, white, middle class/upper middle clas/wealthy almost always commands a whole lot more public attention than if the victim is not all of the foregoing.
