Captain's Log

Right, I have made the tweaks I mentioned to the mail server. If this continues to work well until tomorrow, then I will enable new user registrations again.

If anyone is not receiving expected emails from the forum, then please let me know.

Also, if you're receiving emails from the forum but would rather not, then please change the relevant settings in your preferences:

There are also links in the bottom of every such email that will allow you to stop receiving emails.

It's important to the forum that emails don't just end up in spam folders because then the algorithms of the email service providers will tend to label VF emails as spam for other members as well.

I'm hoping to upgrade the forum software to the most recent version (2.3) in the next few days, but having some problems with the add-ons, so waiting for support people to answer my questions and resolve the issues.

There will be some hopefully short downtime related to this, just so you're aware.

Most of the forum upgrade has been completed, and it thankfully seems to be working OK after a small hiccup. I still need to replace or remove some of the old add-ons, which could mean loss of some features.

But there are also several new features in this new version which I need to look into and enable etc. if it's any good.

I also extended the licence for the forum software and the theme/style for another year. Your membership subscriptions/donations helped a little towards this, thank you!

Is this new for "what's new"? Like a shortcut. I love it!

Yes, exactly. I like that one too.

We have unfortunately lost the "members recently online" box in the right hand side bar (on the main page). There's a replacement but it's a bit expensive.

I do miss it :worried: I might invest some time to see if I can modify the old add-on myself to work with new version of the forum software.
Hah! I thought I should check if the add-on really is broken in the new version of the forum software, so I turned it back on and it looks like it just works!
:woo:
