Crochet

You're welcome. That looks very lovely in a solid color. I bet those would be very popular at your next local craft fair. Nicely done!
Thank you! I think they will be as well. My mom loved it, as did one of our beach friends. So that's a good sign. :)

I also finished the shawl I was working on this weekend and started on a scarf for my boyfriend's grandmother. Pictures to follow. I have a business trip this week so the new scarf will keep me busy on the planes when I am unable to do my office work. I should be getting some money for my next afghan commission this week too... if so, next weekend's errands will include a trip to the craft store.

I'm working on a scarf (or I could make it a cowl) whose pattern supposedly mimics the knitted rib stitch. I still think it looks more crocheted than knitted, but I like the stitch nonetheless. I'll post a pic when I'm done with it. The person said in the instructions that it takes a few rows for it to look like the rib stitch. It's basically half double crochets, but you insert the hook in a loop below the "V" where you usually insert the hook to make a stitch.

Here is the ribbed scarf. I like the stitch a lot, though it could be a bit less stiff. It could be my tension or the yarn, but it still drapes fairly well. The instructions mentioned going down a hook size, but I think next time, I will use the size recommended for the yarn. That said, I really like it, and it worked up fairly quickly.

Thanks, KLS, I like the color, too. It was from the Caron Big Cakes collection. I have some left over, so I might make an ear warmer. I'm not sure I have enough for a hat, which would be even better. :D I got it at Joann's with a 60% off coupon, so it was a pretty good deal.

Was that a different color for each stripe or a self striping yarn?
It's very pretty

I just got back from a business trip and I finally had the chance to get some pictures of the shawl I finished last week. I actually made a sight error in how I aligned the stitches with one another throughout the first V stitch section. I positioned them offset from one another when I was using the variegated yarn, and did not realize until repeating that section in the blue yarn that they were supposed to be lined up with one another. The good news is it did not alter my overall stitch count or cause any issues with the arches sections of the pattern, and it still looks nice, so I opted to just say "It gives it unique character" rather than undoing several hours of work

Yesterday on the plane I finished crocheting that cowl pattern I shared the other day. All I have left to do is buy some nice big wooden buttons to sew on. I am supposed to get a deposit for my long-anticipated second commissioned piece this week, so I will likely wait until next weekend to go to the craft store for both the buttons as well as the yarn for the new project. I included some "in progress" photos here, including how it looked before interlocking all the loops together.

That is a cool pattern. Well done. And I love the shawl, too. The colors are very pretty.
