I finished the poncho with the super warm collar. I made it extra long and it flows into a little twist at the bottom. I am wearing it today on a visit to my cousin's.

Thank you!@PTree15 - love that poncho, and the color
I'm so happy with the hat I made, and needed! I remember making one way back in black. I just did a rectangle and sewed with a lacing stitch.
So cool on the hooded sweater! I would like to knit one someday along with crochet one. I can't wait to see it.This weekend, I made a slouchy winter hat for my boyfriend using leftover yarn from that scarf I made for my veg*n firefighter friend. I also made a really cute Cheshire Cat inspired hood for another dear friend. The latter followed a tutorial I found on YouTube. Here's the hood tutorial
Because it used chunky yarn and a large hook, I was easily able to finish both projects in just a few hours. All I need to do is sew the ears on the hood. I'll need to recruit my boyfriend for assistance positioning them and marking where to sew them on, however.
I also started a hooded sweater for myself. The first tutorial I tried helped me complete the hood portion, but the instructor's video for how to make the rest of the sweater was so poorly explained and difficult to follow that I abandoned it for a different version altogether. I have a back panel and one of the front side panels made so far. I still have one more front side panel and the two sleeve panels to complete before sewing it all together. I am hoping to find a way to join the hood I made from the first pattern onto it without it looking mis-matched. I'd hate to undo hours of work on the hood if I can improvise a way to make it work.

That cat hat is just adorable, and I love the colors. Purple is my favorite.
I've been obsessed with waffle stitch. I've made a cowl, a scarf and four hats of different colors. I think I want one that matches my recently completed poncho. I still have a skein of that green.
I love that waffle stitch is unisex. I've made a men's size for my craft fair inventory. I just love the way it fits and looks as well. One of the hats I made is from Red Heart's Team Spirit collection. I'm going to surprise a friend with that one. I'd bought Green Bay Packers colors to make something for her years ago, and I never got around to it. It came out really cool and you can almost see a pattern in it with the two colors. Not completely even, but overall, pretty cool. I might have enough to make her a matching scarf as well. She is a huge Packers fan, so I think she would get a kick out of wearing her colors, especially on game day. I might also consider making some more team-themed hats and scarves for selling. I just have to find the right colors. The Bruins are really easy: black and gold. The Patriots and Red Sox would be easy as long as I find the right shades of red and blue. And the Celtics' green and white would be really simple. My boyfriend prefers the new hat to the navy one I made him that was waffle stitch. So I guess technically that means *I* have two of them now. I get daily complIments on my waffle stitch hat and scarf combo that I made with that blue/white/magenta variegated yarn months ago.
I already told my friend who will be getting the cat hood that I was so surprised how fast and easy it was to make with chunky yarn that I am considering making one for myself as well. I single crocheted the back seam in the one I made, instead of lacing it up like the original video. Even without ears sewn on, it would be a great accessory for a non-hooded jacket or sweater.
I am just about finished with another panel of the hooded sweater I am making. I have 5 more rows there, then I just need to make 2 sleeves and assemble. If that comes together well, I will surely share the pattern. My goal is to finish the sleeves by the weekend, so I can sew it up then.
If I end up getting that commission to make hats for my coworker's local school football league, I was actually thinking of looking for Bruins themed yarn, since it's the right colors. It would simplify the process a ton.I love that waffle stitch is unisex. I've made a men's size for my craft fair inventory. I just love the way it fits and looks as well. I love the "granny square" type stitch in between rows! I grew up many of the zig zag afgans and this makes it so much prettier! This week, I got the commission to make a baby blanket for my boyfriend's sister-in-law. The blanket will be for her brother's child, due in a few months. We decided on this pattern: http://bettymcknit.com/patterns/6daykidblanket/
I will be using Caron Simply Soft yarn in shades of green and white. I plan to pick up the yarn this afternoon so I can work on it this week.
I am just starting to read through the pattern and watch some YouTube tutorials for it now. I really like the look of it too, so I am hoping I pick up the design quickly.I love the "granny square" type stitch in between rows! I grew up many of the zig zag afgans and this makes it so much prettier!
Will the sweater have a closure?
I'm going to do a similar pattern for a lap blanket for my friend for her birthday. She is a big Philadelphia Eagles football fan, so I got the closest shade possible to Eagles green. It's an odd shade. It's not quite green, and it almost has a teal look to it. So I got Real Teal at Joanne's (Red Heart brand). She is moving to a senior housing complex, so it will be great to for her to have something new. I'm going to make it 48" by 60", perfect for throwing the blanket on while she's on the couch watching the game! Oh, and a bonus. I had a 30% my entire yarn purchase, so I paid only $25 for all of the yarn (hopefully, I did my math right, hahaha). This week, I got the commission to make a baby blanket for my boyfriend's sister-in-law. I just love this!!! what a great color!I finished my hooded sweater yesterday evening. Thankfully, I was able to attach the hood I made from the first pattern I tried to follow to the body of the sweater I assembled from the second pattern I used. I just had to make the front panels a few rows wider so they would match up flush to the bottom edge of the hood. After that, I added a few rows of double crochet to the bottom since the original length was a little short for my long torso. Finally, I tidied up the edges of the sleeves with a round of single crochet, and added the row of white single crochet stitches to give it a nice contrasting accent. This is my first crocheted garment with actual sleeves, so I am very pleased with the result.
