Do you look like a veg*n?

I agree, but what if you see someone wearing a "vegan uniform", what are the odds they really are vegan?

When I think of what I imagine a vegan person to look like, I think stereotypical hippie look. But when I've met people who do look like that; they're not been vegan or vegetarian! So I have no idea tbh :D I think those are old stereotypes & times have changed.

Well, I'm in my mid-fifties, so the young hip stereotype is out the window there. [emoji1] I'm female, short, average weight, very long hair often in a braid or bun, no jewelry, comfortable shoes and clothes. Minimal makeup. No tattoos. [emoji1]
Let's see how we compare :D : I'm approaching mid-fifties: average height and weight, three tattoos, a bit of jewelry (earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings but not all at the same time), short hair (but not anything close-cropped) and makeup only if I'm going out someplace fancy or to a party. As for clothes, you could say my style is LL Bean meets REI. I love cotton sweaters (pullovers and cardigans), hoodies, jeans, t-shirts, turtlenecks and outdoor clothing like hiking pants and fleece pullovers. As for shoes, comfort determines what I wear: mostly sneakers, hiking boots and clogs and flats.

Infantry boots, 5.11 cargo pants, shaved head, medium build. In my imagination I look like a mercenary. In reality it's probably more like an airsoft player.

My uniform:

Work: Slacks and a buttondown shirt

Home: Jeans and a tee shirt (flannel shirt in the winter time), sneakers (running shoes)
Hair: short, but not a crew cut ("at the ears and at the collar").
No jewelery, no tattoos. Wire rim glasses.

I was in my favourite local pub a while back (super vegan friendly, although not an exclusively vegan crowd by a long shot), and there was a very tall, broad, bearded, intimidating, highly stereotypical biker guy at the bar, good-naturedly berating the bartender about being out of his favourite vegan beer, and asking which other beers were vegan. I helped him pick one out. Still one of my favourite encounters with a vegan stranger.

My husband was once asked "are you a vegetarian? Because you look like one." He wasn't at the time, but he is now, and he looks the same... maybe it was a premonition :P

I'm built like a tall dwarf.
Long upper body, with short arms and legs. I have the upper body of a six foot plus man and the arms and legs of a man five foot tall. I'm also very broad across the shoulders and have a barrel chest. (I'm 5"8"). I'm a plug.

My build often makes finding clothing (that I like, and that fits well) hard to find. Which could be why I've never felt a need to follow fashion.

My normal attire for the last few years is a pair of coveralls, with the shirt of the day, and a pair of Crocs/slip on boat shoes/boots on my feet (depends on the weather and/or what I'm doing - though I normally prefer going barefoot).

I have a mustache and friendly sideburns (like a full beard with the chin shaved). I normally have short hair or a crew cut. The reason behind my hairstyle (while I think it works well with my face) is actually based on the fact that I'm sick of shaving, and don't like the upkeep involved in long hair and/or a full beard (I've had both). Also I cut my own hair and short is easier.

I don't think I look like anyone else. I don't actually pay that much attention. Though I'm pretty sure that I'm currently outside of any trends in clothing and or hairstyles. I haven't noticed anyone else around, or on TV resembling me. So I doubt I look like anyone's idea of a veg*n.

I had dyed dark hair and I used to wear black clothing quite a lot a few years ago and I have 5 tattoos, including a vegan one. Now I'm much more boring as I don't colour my hair (it's naturally a light brown/red colour) and just wear any clothing that's clean and isn't covered in pet fur. Ah, the joys of being middle aged.:D ETA I'm going to be 39 in a couple of months.

I would have expected you to be very conventional in your dress just from the way you come across online.:)

Me.. mid fifties, average height, a wobbly bit above average weight but working on it!

Working clothes? Today ..black smart trousers black smart top and discreet silver loop earrings.Identity badge. Nothing hippy going on here well disguised as middle aged professional !

Home clothes? Jeans and t shirt, sandals , with bigger, more ethnic earrings and often bangles or neck chains. Or leggings , dress tops and boots with ethnic jewellery. More hippy but not an obvious 'yogurt weaver.' ;)

Short, stocky, very short hair here. No tattoos. Jeans, cotton sweaters, comfortable shoes or barn boots.

I don't think there is a dress code for vegans - because we run the gamut of age groups and styles. In general, I like to think I can pull off most looks. For a majority of my life, my wardrobe and haircuts were dictated by whatever band I was in. When I was in a punk rock band - I looked the part. I had an anarchy symbol shaved on my head at one point. Then I joined an alt-country band, grew my hair out and put on a cowboy hat. I looked like the son of Josey Wales. Then I joined an original 'classic rock' band, cut my hair shortish and put on a nice shirt. People thought I looked like more of an accountant than a rocker. So I grew my hair longer and got several tattoos so that people would never say that again. :p When my hair is long I am a tree-hugging hippy minus the body / facial hair. (I still barely need to shave...). Especially in my favorite Pink Floyd Tee shirt and necklaces. But I don't usually keep it very long cause my wife doesn't like. It also makes me look older.

Currently my hair is short - but with a slightly longer strip in the front so as not to be confused with someone who knows something about numbers. (No offense to those who know something about numbers.)
At home, my clothes are comfortable, dark and mostly limited to Tee shirts with dead rock stars on them and boot cut jeans. They must be boot cut so as to not make my feet look like skis.
At work I wear a shirt and tie - cause every girl is crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man. And because my job kinda requires it.
I don't wear earrings anymore, but the holes are still there.
I have tattoos, but all are on my torso, covered most of the time. That is likely to change soon with additional tats.
I do own a black hoodie, but no one in these parts has ever taken me for a vegan. Probably because most people in these parts still have no idea what a vegan is.

I guess I look average ... mid fourties, average figure, short hair (to somehow hide the thinning), glasses, normally wearing slacks and shirt.

Of course, putting on my motorbike plastics and heavy pleather boots to go to the office normally helps a bit to make me look a bit cooler :)

Best regards,
Andy

Oh, I see ....

Mid 50's, 5'9", light to medium build, toned but not overly muscular.

Hair worn in the "I had some when I was younger" style; Maintained solely with a once weekly run over with a #2 clipper.

Chin worn in the "I'd like a beard when I'm older" style; Maintained solely with a once weekly run over with a #2 clipper.

No piercings. (In case the holes let water in and I sink when I'm swimming.)

No tattoos. (I grew out of drawing on myself when I was about nine years old.)

Summer dress style: Combat pants or shorts, sandals (NO F*****G SOCKS!!!!!), T-shirts.

Winter dress style: Boot leg jeans, boots, roll neck tops, puffer jacket, the kind of hats that only your dad would be seen dead in.
