Dumpster Diving Across America

I can understand the ethics behind dumpster diving for food, but the idea of eating food that has been sitting in a dumpster for god knows how long, I'm sorry, but it really grosses me out. :yuck:

Not everyone who dumpster dives does so out of financial necessity. For some people it's an ethical choice because we waste so much edible food.

When people think of dumpster diving, I think a lot of people imagine rooting through house hold bins for part eaten food... But (at least for people for whom it is an ethical/non financial choice) people target supermarket/shop waste, where the food is usually packaged/sealed and just a day or so past it's "best before" date, or damaged/etc. Things like... Bags of apples, packs of chocolate bars... Untouched and perfectly hygenic.

Anyway... Good for this guy!

The former is exactly what I think of when someone says dumpster diving. The latter doesn't seem so bad. But I still don't think it's for me. Hope I never have to find out.
