Kumamoto dog won’t let quake fears keep him from guard duty:The Asahi Shimbun (see video - nothing shocking)
Jack the dog has yet to fully recover from the devastating earthquakes that have rocked Kumamoto Prefecture since April.
He would not sleep inside his owner's home in Mashiki, a town shaken by two temblors that registered 7 on the Japanese intensity scale of 7 two months ago, apparently out of fear from the violent tremors he experienced.
Instead, he rests inside his master’s car.
But that does not deter the 8-year-old dog from showing up at his “office” in the prefectural capital’s Higashi Ward, where the owner runs a key-making shop, just as he did before the temblors. Jack serves as a “guard dog” there.
On a recent day, the canine entered the shop by deftly pressing with his front paw the automatic door button, which was specially installed near the floor for him, far down from the one for customers.
Inside the shop, Jack returned to his normal self, cheerful and friendly to customers.
(Great idea for the dog friendly automatic door opener )
