Smugglers caught trying to bring thousands of face-whitening injection kits into China
Police in southern China have seized 40,000 face-whitening injection kits that smugglers were attempting to bring into the country, according to a newspaper report.
The syringes and chemicals for the beauty treatment were found on a ship off the coast of Xiamen in Fujian province, the Legal Daily reported.
The seized kits came from Taiwan and included products made by nine foreign brands that have not been approved by the China Food and Drug Administration, the report said.
“The needles have not been refrigerated properly through the smuggling process and have been stored under awful transport and storage conditions causing a great possible danger for people who might inject them,” the deputy commissioner of Xiamen’s Customs department was quoted as saying.
