Software GMail: "Undo Send" Feature

Not me, but I know a similar feature has existed in MS Outlook for ages, the "recall message" feature. That requires that the recipients also use Outlook / Exchange, I believe.

It's not clear to me if Gmail's undo send feature works simply be delaying the sending of all messages, and then cancels sending if you "undo" before the email is actually sent.

Yes, that's it. It delays sending the e-mail by an interval you set. But the longest delay allowed is 30 seconds, which is not very long in my book.

The most common reason I would want to cancel an e-mail is if I was supposed to be including an attachment, but then forgot to include the attachment. But it usually takes me more than 30 seconds to realize this. In fact, in many cases, I only realize it after getting a reply from one of the recipients saying, "Where's the attachment?"

We have Outlook at work and the recall feature never works. We've tested it several times, trying to recall immediately after we send it but we're never able to unsend an email.

This brings back memories of the old bbs days, when you could delete a message if the recipient hadn't read it yet, because it was all on the same computer.
