I have explained a couple of times what bonfire night is to international students. The conversations always made me realise it sounds a bit weird to celebrate the death of a guy who tried to blow up the houses of parliment, especially when you get to the bit where children burn an effigy in a big fire.
Still though, I quite like having a uniquely British celebration.
people used to have Thatcher instead of Fawkes in the 80s....I suppose Cameron would be just as good, people could use their old pumpkins as the giant Cameron head.
