Russia sends dozens of cruise missiles to Ukraine on a daily basis, but I guess that is not what you meant?

haven't western countries already been supplying Ukraine with a lot of weapons? A lot of it I think not even sold but given away.

Yeah, and they are sending them missiles. When I was thinking of Cruise misses I was thinking of those big ship mounted ones that cause major destruction.

I don't think we have a new one so I'm going to post to this old one.

We have been hearing about the antisemitic attacks against soccer fans in Amsterdam.
Do you think these are really antisemitic attacks? Aren't soccer fans generally fighting against each other?

wasn't it just earlier this year when English fans started a near riot in Berlin?

From what I've read about the attacks, they're being condemned in Amsterdam and elsewhere in Europe as antisemitism. Yes, soccer fans have a reputation for unruly, sometimes violent behavior, but it doesn't seem that this stemmed from fans just being fans.

From the AP:
Pro-Palestinian demonstrators were banned by local authorities from gathering outside the stadium, and video showed a large crowd of Israeli fans chanting anti-Arab slogans on their way to the game. Afterward, youths on scooters and on foot crisscrossed the city in search of Israeli fans, punching and kicking them and then fleeing quickly to evade police, Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema said.

On the social media platform Telegram, “there is talk of people going on a Jew hunt,” Halsema said. “That is so shocking and so despicable that I still cannot fathom it.” Dutch Minister of Justice and Security David van Weel vowed to track down and prosecute the perpetrators.

Generally speaking football fans are not as violent as back in the 90's, thanks to stricter legislation and facial recognition used by police forces.
The worst ones were indeed the Brits. Their behavior at times was utterly appalling and they acted more like drunk thugs rather than football fans.

The sad events in Amsterdam was certainly antisemitic which is sadly on the rise in Europe. Anyway, the Israeli government reacted swiftly and immediately flew the football supporter back home. They have the best security forces in the world.

Israeli football fans, who had been chanting "anti-Arab" slogans, were punched and kicked. There was a rumour of a "Jew hunt". So, Israel sent special air-planes to fly their citizens home. Israel is the victim yet again.

Meanwhile, Israel has been waging a high-intensity genocidal war against the Palestinian people for more than a year. More than 40,000 Palestinians are confirmed dead, 70% of whom are women and children. An unknown number are still buried under the rubble. Hospitals, schools, shelters have been targeted in an indiscriminate campaign. And weapons for billions of US dollars are provided by US tax payers.

But the thing that we choose to focus on in this "international" politics thread (i.e. politics outside the US), after a 2 year gap of inactivity, is some minor violence against Israeli football hooligans.

(I'm sorry if that sounds harsh. But it had to be said. I still love you all.)

No it was planned from outside a long time before it happened. I am still trying to find the info I had on my phone yesterday but many of the attackers came from other countries and had been alerted on Whatsapp and other connections. It was antisemitic for sure!

It shocks me how biased you are in this. A lot of people are but I expected better of you. The only genocidal intent was from Hamas and is provable. The definition of genocide requires two things: 1. that the victims are a race or a nation. Palestine are neither. 2. that intent can be proven. It can't in Israel's case but it can in the case of Hamas. It is in their manifesto and there is plenty of video evidence online from the lips of various Hamas leaders and spokespeople themselves that the destruction of the state of Israel was the real reason for the atrocities they committed in October last year - not some territorial dispute in the West Bank. These Jews were not being beaten because of anti-Arab slogans as the whole thing was planned in advance as you can see from my later post to Lou.

There are widely varying definitions of genocide, but you are incorrect even by your own definition:
The definition of genocide requires two things: 1. that the victims are a race or a nation. Palestine are neither.
According to Wikipedia:
Currently, 146 UN member states (75%) recognize the State of Palestine. Though some do not recognize it, they acknowledge the PLO as the representative of the Palestinian people.
So, recognised as a nation by 75% of UN member states, and some of the others recognise that there is a Palestinian people.
2. that intent can be proven
This is more difficult to prove, but the way the war is conducted, such as indiscriminate targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure (hospitals, schools, shelters and more), the deliberate starving of the population, as well as the decades-long process of stealing land in the West Bank bit by bit, all points to clear intent, even if it's not written down.

Regardless, even if you don't think it fits the definition of a genocide, and regardless of what you think of Hamas, you should easily be able to condemn the actions of Israel against civilian Palestinians, as well as their ongoing land theft. Can you do that? If not, I'm afraid we have absolutely no common ground, and no further discussion is possible.
