News Intravenous Drips Used as Hangover Cure

I hope they are doing some bloodwork on the patient before they blindly give IV fluids.

It is definitely a treatment that works very quickly to make the dehydrated hungover person feel better.

In American football they often give IVs to the players at halftime. I don't think that's a great idea, either.

The doctor who was interviewed didn't mention this. What would they be seeking by testing the blood beforehand ?

From what I have understood, it is just a quick fix. Drinking fluids would be the answer to a hangover as long as the
person isn't suffering with nausea.

There are lots of different IV solutions depending on the current makeup of the blood. For example, if someone vomited/had diarrhea due to excess alcohol, they could have too little potassium in their body, which affects the heart's rhythm. Further dilution by a potassium-free IV infusion could be dangerous.

I see.:)

When I took a combat lifesaving course some of the instructors would arrive in the morning with a drip going in their car for their hangover. Good times.

Are they serious about banning it, though? I mean not that I think relying on an IV as a hangover cure is the best thing to do, but there are already enough ******** laws on the books that are completely impossible to enforce. Sometimes you just have to give people the option to be stupid if they want.
