Gunshots have been fired at Terminal 3 and eye witnesses say that people have been injured.

It is currently on Breaking News.

Lax is completly shutdown and the gunman is in custody.

I'm watching local news coverage. A lot of chaos around the airport. It's a good thing I don't have to be there or near there today.

They're allowing planes to land at LAX rather than diverting them to other airports, so that's a good sign.

They're also allowing flights to take off.

A TSA agent was shot and perhaps killed.

Your link is broken. Here: http://ktla.com/2013/11/01/police-responding-to-major-incident-at-lax/

Me too. I'm watching live coverage on Fox news.

Apparently the FAA have stopped all planes departing from LAX.

Okay, the flights that were allowed to leave were already ready to go, but the FAA apparently *has* grounded all other departing flights. How frustrating for the passengers.

Passengers on an incoming flight from China have been sitting in the plane for two hours, not being allowed to get off. Ugh.

Law enforcement has just issued a statement saying that the gunman was connected to TSA.

I wonder where all the long haul flights that are only hours away from landing will be diverted to .
Virgin Atlantic is scheduled to land at 2.30 pm so I'm wondering whether it'll be diverted to Ontario ?

Probably Bob Hope Airport in Burbank or Long Beach Airport. Those are closer to LAX than Ontario.

Those L.A. police officers did an amazing job of preventing many more tragedies yesterday. Imagine hearing large round gunfire in an airport, and running *towards* it.

Apparently lots of the pax thought that it was an earthquake. Strange as I always think of this happening when
I am at the gate at LAX and have wondered how we would escape ?

The PD are now trained using military methods and the person in charge of security at all US airports now has a military background.
I also found that everything seemed to be under control considering the circumstances.

Anything to do with people running amok with guns in America is automaticaly funny.

Giving every citizen the right to fly passenger aircraft untill they actualy crash one would be funny, for exactly the same reason, too.

gross to find it funny that an innocent father/son/husband/friend/brother was killed.

seems as if taking away gun rights doesn't prevent such matters anyway, as the stats in countries that have done so indicate.

It looks they may have to put up screening devices before entering airport buildings.

That's what I was thinking. It will become even more unbearable, and time consuming, to fly anywhere. If this happens, and I think it will, more people will opt to drive to their destinations, or take the bus or train. Of course, they'd still have to fly if they plan to leave the continent. And there'd be a lot of grumbling. But hardly anyone would consider restricting guns even more, because gun use is a sacred right here in 'murica.

I think that they would have to re-think on how to make check in speedier. You can check in on-line and go to the bag drop nowadays.
Flying is still safer and less tiring than any other transport and I certainly will still fly. I dislike coaches and am not too keen on trains.
