I signed the petition and posted the link to Ellen's page and I just sent an email to her via her website. Not sure any of it will do any good, but it certainly can't hurt.

Well as I'm sure all of you know the "Slam" happened yesterday. We weren't able to stop it this year, but at least we got a lot of people interested in the cause. If we keep fighting this year round, maybe we can get these bloodsports / killing contests outlawed.

It's not just a local thing, either. When I did a search, several hunting websites came up, talking about it. People are killing squirrels where they live and then taking the bodies there to be weighed, in hopes of winning one of the prizes.

I've never seen or heard of a flying squirrel in Europe. They do look a bit like bats.
