Water coolers replace drinking fountains at Detroit schools after lead detected
Half of Detroit’s 108 school buildings don’t have air conditioning.
At the same time, the first day of school for 50,000 students had them cooling off with bottled water and water coolers set up in hallways.
Drinking fountains were shut down after some tests showed high lead levels. The bottled water will continue indefinitely in all Detroit schools.
