TV & Film Movie Lounge

I got the movie A-X-L again from the library and finished watching it. It was a cool sci-fi film about a robot dog created by the military. There may be a sequel because it ended hinting at one but in these questionable times who knows if it will get made.

I saw that and I found it entertaining.
Unfortunately after seeing a movie like that my first thought is they have all this money they spend on special effects and stunts, can't they spend a little more money on writers?

I'm starting to get more movies and tv shows from the library now. I stopped during the pandemic when the library was closed. The library has had curbside pickup for months but I got out of the habit. Its not live I've see all the good stuff on Netflix already. Maybe its the grass is always greener, but it seem like a lot of good stuff that I would like to see is not on Netflix.

The Shallows (2016) - IMDb

I had to watch it in 2 goes as it was a bit overwhelming. I'm not a fan of shark films however it's was beautifully filmed. There was some spectacular scenes of dolphins and the scenery was also beautiful.

Blake Lively Was Totally Upstaged by a Seagull in Her New Movie

I also agree about the sea gull virtually upstaging the main character in the film.
I finally got around to watching it and I liked it a lot more than I expected. There was a while in the middle that kind of dragged on but the last quarter made up for it.

I watched The Pact (2012) for the second time the other day. I knew I had seen it as I remembered the start but I didn't remember the rest at all. It was actually quite good.

Thats one of the benefits of getting old. You might be half way thru a movie (or book) and realize that you have seen it or read it before. but since you can't remember the ending you go ahead and finish it.

I've read such conflicting reviews of that film.

I wouldn't know about that, lol.

I bet I had been drinking alcohol at night when I watched it and that is why I don't remember it.

Today has been movie day! After I finished the book I was reading, I started watching TNT. The first one I watched was "The Fast and the Furious 6" which I don't know how I missed watching when it came out in 2013 as I am a big fan of that franchise. I have seen all the other ones more than once. It was typical F&F over the top action. The next movie was released in 1998 starring Denzel Washington called "Fallen". It was a creepy supernatural murder mystery thriller. I don't remember seeing that one either. It was good with a cool twist at the end as the Stones "Sympathy for the Devil" played which was fitting. I won't say more! Next was yet another Denzel movie that I had not seen called "American Gangster", released in 2007 and based on a true story. Lots of well known actors in this one and a very excellent film. Now "The Equalizer" is on which also stars Mr. Washington.

Today I watched one of Chadwick Boseman's last films released in 2019. It is called "21 Bridges" and is a fairly standard cop show with lots of action and shooting. He plays the detective. Pretty good movie for that sort of thing. It still amazes me that he was able to work in so many movies while battling cancer.

I have found couple of favourites during the past six months or so.

The latest has been PK (2014).
I was like "indian movie/musical with an alien in it. Must watch."
It's about the dangers of organised religion and how important compassion and logic is.
It begins as a quite hilarious movie and approaching the end, gets very dark.
"There was a time when I too had no food to eat, no place to live. I used to cry a lot because I had no friend. The only thing I had was hope. God. Each day I hoped tomorrow will be better. God will find a solution. I agree that believing in God gives hope... The strength to face ordeals. But I have one question. Which God should I believe in? You say there is one God. I say no. There are two Gods. One who created us. And the other, whom you created. We know nothing about the God who made us. But the God you made up is just like you. Petty. Takes bribes, makes false promises. Readily meets rich, keeps the poor waiting. Thrives on flattery. Makes you live in fear. My right number is simple. Believe in the God who created us. And the God you created... should be abolished."

Then Captain Fantastic with Viggo Mortensen. Whoo! He also acted in A History of Violence and The Lord of The Rings.

And Leave No Trace.

Put PK on my list. May not have but your credibility went up 100% after liking Captain Fantastic. That is such a great movie. and that song... I love that song anyway but what a great rendition. When the little kid breaks out the harmonica....I started laughing and crying.

I also saw Leave No Trace and I can't say enough good things about it.
