I watched a part of the 30 day shred to see what it was like...that woman freakin' scares the heck out of me. I think she could make me cry, lol.30 day shred level 3 is hard work.
Daily yoga and meditation would help with all your goals! My goals, even though I did not participate last month:
-Stretch more, and improve flexibility. I suppose I could take up yoga, but I don't know if I have the time for that right now.
-Learn to breathe more efficiently, and to not tense up my neck (when trumpet playing). Also, figure out correct diaphragm breathing.
-Improve memory of dreams by not being as lazy and writing them down. Kind of a mental goal.
-Stay in the moment, and pay attention to my surroundings. (Improve consciousness, I suppose)
-Taking time to relax throughout the day, and becoming more relaxed in general.
Kind of vague goals, I suppose. Maybe they don't all qualify as health goals, but I think they could, depending on how you look at them. I just need to remember to stay focused, and more importantly, to relax.
They definitely qualify. Mental health is as important as physical health, IMHO.My goals, even though I did not participate last month:

Yeah, I figured you would say that, ledboots...Daily yoga and meditation would help with all your goals!
Just try a short guided meditation, maybe? There are some online that are about 15 minutes. I'm such a nag I know.Yeah, I figured you would say that, ledboots...
I don't know when I would have time for yoga everyday. I suppose I could wake up even earlier, but then I would probably be more tired. And we don't really have a good area for doing exercise like yoga in my house. Also, I would have to learn the poses, but I could probably do that myself, or find a class if needed.

I just saw the meditation thread, which I had forgotten about. It seems like there are some potentially helpful links on there. Unfortunately my ipod is currently messed up, so I won't be able to listen to them to conveniently.Just try a short guided meditation, maybe? There are some online that are about 15 minutes. I know exactly what you mean. I've always been a ball of anxiety, which is why I discovered meditation in the first place. I couldn't relax and got most anxious when trying to relax. I now do lots of different meditations and sometimes use crystals. All woo and stuff, I know, but I like them.I just saw the meditation thread, which I had forgotten about. I used to be much more able to just relax, and I was really into acupressure. I also took brief forays into PMR, which helped me recharge on long bike rides, and some Tai Chi, which I soon gave up on.
Lately I have just been more stressed. Before I could quickly bring myself to consciousness or relaxation at anytime during the day, but now I feel like there is something blocking the way. Kind of like I'm too stressed or busy to relax.
The heart is a very important muscle, good for you! I avoid cardio, which I know is bad.I went to the gym this morning and did about 40 minutes on the treadmill; I made myself jog for a couple minutes to get my heart rate up into the fitness zone. I will try out the other machines one of these days but the treadmill is my favorite thing to do.
^^^ My cardio is very low-impact: I walk to where I have to go, sometimes very long distances (~13 miles within 24 hours this past week). I walk at from 3 to 4 miles per hour though; running wouldn't take so much time, but it hurts!
