US Predict the outcome of the US presidential election!

It's also possible that they lied to pollsters not because they were ashamed but because they intentionally wanted to mislead them. Give Hillary a wide edge in the polls, and let potential Democratic voters be lazy and complacent and not push as hard to get her votes because she'll win anyway. Yes, I do believe that's possible.

It will be a landslide victory. My fingers are crossed, and I remain anxious - but that is my prediction.

Clearly, no one should ever listen to my predictions. As soon as I hit enter on this I regretted it and had a very bad feeling that carried on into the night. I could spit nails at the pollsters. I think if it had been projected as a toss-up, it may have inspired more Dems to come out. Now let me get back to curling up with my cats and shutting out the wicked world.

The polls were wrong for the UK 2015 General Election, the EU (Brexit) referendum and now the US Election too. Who pays these pollsters? They should be out of a job.:D

Not bad; actually quite impressive.

Perhaps you could become on of their (more expert) pollsters ? :p
Well, I still got the overall result wrong. And to be fair to the pollsters, they did predict a close result. (Edit: And my prediction was largely based on the most recent polling!) As for the 3 states I got wrong, I came across a news article with analysis of the result there. It seems a large part of the explanation was the lack of enthusiasm for Clinton - she failed to get traditionally Democratic voters to the polling stations.
In Wisconsin, where Clinton didn’t make a single stop during the general election campaign, she won voters under 30 by just 4 points. Obama won them by 23 points four years ago. The state voted Republican for the first time since 1984.

“The vote among younger voters dropped off appreciably” for Clinton, said Tom Holbrook, political scientist for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Clinton’s margin in the ultra-blue city of Milwaukee was 27,000 votes smaller than Obama’s. That was roughly the size of her statewide defeat.

All I had to do was look at my own family to realize that Clinton was in danger of losing. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who didn't vote for Trump. The polls kept saying she was ahead, but whenever I considered my family, I wondered, Who are the pollsters talking to? Either their sampling was way off, or people lied to the pollsters, or maybe it was a little of both. Sometimes I look at my family and feel like such an outsider.
