Purple poppies

In November we wear red poppies to remember the fallen in the first world war. Purple poppies are for the animals lost in conflicts...

To be honest...I thought everyone did this
I havent seen any purple poppies...but if I see any I will probably donate.

Oh, ok. I've seen veterans selling the little red poppy things outside of grocery stores sometimes, but no one wears them. (No one I've seen, anyway.) I've never heard of the purple poppy thing.

Not to be a negative Nelly, but just to put some perspective on things: I suspect the number of animals who die because of war is completely and utterly dwarfed by the number of animals who die because of people's ridiculous eating habits. And I also suspect it's dwarfed by the number of animals who die because of accidents (traffic-related, fires in farm buildings, oil/toxic spills etc).

So? It doesnt mean we shouldnt do something for those animals that served our Country during conflict.
Animals in farms are dying needlessly yes, but animals in conflict died doing something noble. Not remembering makes their lives/sacrafices seem expendable surey?
I think they deserve to be remembered. It wasnt long ago people were against a Memorial for war serving animals....

I have one. For Brits you can order them online from Animal Aid. They might do international delivery, I can't check right now as I'm on my phone and the internet is being really slow :(

EDIT:
Here's the link to buy one:

. There's badges and stickers as well.

I have never heard of this . It's a pretty cool concept though.

I keep reading this thread as "Purple Poopies":p

I thought it was purple puppies too!
Really thrown with "who will be wearing a purple puppy alongside a red one?

I've not heard of this either, interesting idea! I typically get a red poppy and a white one as well from the local peace action groups.

I don't know where the hell I've been but I've never heard of the purple poppies. Obviously everyone wears a red one but I've never seen anyone with a purple poppy on too. Will keep an eye out for one :)

I did have one but I sent it to another vegan in the post. I should get another one.:)
