This thread made me look online to see images of some of the churches I have visited and it is so strange how I can almost smell the scent of the burning candles when I look at them. I don't know if that is specifically a Catholic thing, or most churches use candles in their services.

One thing I liked about being Catholic was the beautiful churches, especially the stained glass windows. And the incense at High Mass.What a beautiful chapel!

Even as an atheist, I find a sense of spiritual serenity in many places of worship, especially very old ones.
