Saudi Arabia: Atheists are terrorists

BC was very specific about the aspect of Christianity his stated grievance is with, Ledders.

I'm not starting a one man BC defence league here, mind ...

More that this "saying one apple in the barrel is bad = saying all apples in the barrel are bad" type nonsense really gets on my wick.
He mentioned "the masses" and "The Christian electorate" in his post. That seems fairly encompassing of Christians to me, not directed to one bad Christian apple.

The tendency for masses of Christians to mass together (on matters of general Christian interest) is an empiricaly observable aspect of Christianity, Ledders.

That is only one aspect of Christianity though.

One aspect = one apple.

One aspect /= all apples.

It's interesting that you didn't respond to Clueless Git with "And your comment contributes to the discussion how?"

I did respond to CG comment, but yea it was off topic.

However, that only becomes an issue if a person does it habitually without contributing anything mesaningful to the conversation at all. And thus far, the majority of my comments have been on topic...or a reply to someone elses off topic comment.

I was referring to the 6K year earth folks. (Evangelical Christains) The Christain equivalant to the Saudi's brand of Islam.

Even they don't lump all Christians into one bucket. Go ahead and ask a random Evangelical Christian if Catholics are true Christians. You may not be please with their response....

That's exactly my point. A minority of loud ignorant evangelicals are now somehow the face of Christianity. Jesus must be rolling over in his grave....oh, wait.. :D

ETA Are you purposely spelling Christian wrong? "Christains"?

one way scientists could counter creationism might be not to pretend that they know everything about the universe. Talking about 'God of the gaps' for example. As long as scientific supporters show no humbleness in the face of the unknown, the less trustworthy they seem, when it comes to the truth about reality.

As I said before, I'm a numbers guy, not a word guy. :p

And for some odd reason, the spell check in my browser isn't working.

I am not humble about saying that there are gaps in human kowledge. Just as I am not humble in saying that filling those gaps with a diety is a mistake.

I think the word 'gap' itself may be a mistake. It suggests we have a whole picture of reality but with gaps, where as really we understand a few threads of reality. Of a reality that we have no idea of the bounds.

Nice backpedaling.

The masses need something to believe in. If they knew that they were sending their children overseas to die for oil (and other resources), far fewer would volunteer, and the politicians couldn't play to the "moral superiority" card that's so popular with Christain electorate. Push peoples buttons in the right way, and they'll mindlessly stick with you forever.

That's not backpedalling? The reader is supposed to transform "Christain(sic) electorate" to "6 year folks (Evangelical Christains)[sic] The Christain(sic) equivalent to the Saudi's brand of Islam."

Per wiki, 73% of Americans self- identify as Christian. 19% of the 73% identify as Evangelical. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_the_United_States

And "Christain" wasn't on the list.

Yes, that's why I mentioned it; it seemed a little rude to Christians. I hadn't realized his spellchecker had failed multiple times, on that one word.

It didn't fail on that one word, it isn't working at all. For some odd reason, my company's IT department chose to disable that feature in the browser.

You'll notice that my spelling improves significantly after 6pm and on the weekends.

I'd like to remind everyone to check out the forum rules and etiquette and stick to them in this forum.

In particular, I'd like to remind members to keep on topic in the debate forum and also to debate members ideas not members themselves. Also, images are not permitted.
