As an American I'm having a hard time imagining what the texture is like and how they would taste. To me they seem like they would be like a really dry muffin, and I've seen them compared to our biscuits, which makes it even more confusing. A fruit flavored biscuit would be disgusting as they're normally savory.

I have a lot of pumpkin so I thought I might make some pumpkin scones, but since I've never had one, I won't know if it came out right or not.

I found this recipe, does it looks like a good one? I'll be leaving out the pecans though, since I don't have any. I also would be using orange juice instead of milk, would that ruin it? I have a lot of juice I need to use up before it goes bad.

I ended up making these tonight and they are pretty good, and not too sweet. Not sure what I would compare them to.

I agree, when I think of scones I think of dry and crumbly. I've had more bad ones than good. I do like the ones I get from Whole Foods.

The recipe looks like a good one. Glad they turned out ok. Nothing worse than going through the motions and wasting ingredients.

I like the recipe for chocolate chip scones (and gingerbread scones) from the Joy of Vegan baking (can't seem to find a link for it at the moment). They aren't as crumbly, but they are fairly dry. They are not too sweet, either, which I like. Sometimes bakery scones have way too much sugar in and on top of them for my liking.

Scones usually do have a crumbly, dry texture and are much better eaten hot, straight from the oven with lots of vegan butter. I find that shop bought scones tastes inferior to home made ones.

I think that the trick is not to over knead the dough and to eat them freshly baked. Everytime that I have had afternoon tea in a hotel or restaurant in the UK they were always served freshly baked and warm.

Thank you for the links. :)
I do agree that eating them right out of the oven is best, but no butter for me. :D I also agree that homemade ones are best. Now I want scones, hehe.
