Tamari is often gluten free, and not as strong, or salty, as soy sauce. I haven't had it in a very long time!
I prefer Braggs soy aminos myself. They have a close, but different, taste than soy sauce. I will sometimes use a packet of soy sauce I collect from Chinese take out
