News Two girls, 12, accused of stabbing another girl were inspired by website

Say a 12 year old does something VERY adult and VERY good, Wolfie.

Would you object to their reward being the keys to your car, a porn video, a bottle of whiskey and a pack of cigarettes?

No! However, all I got was a pat on the back and an ice cream cone.

I agree with others that the chilling factor is the amount of time and planning that went into this. It wasn't a spontaneous prank that got out of control as I've been the victim of. In all those months of planning, the obvious wrongness of what they were doing never caused them to change their minds or alter their plans. They need to be separated from society before they show up at school with automatic weapons. There may still be hope for them but I think that is slim in this case.

Point simply being that it's a total pile of bollox to say that we should treat 12 year old's like adults when 12 year old's do adult things.

I honestly don't care what they do with them as long as they can't harm anyone else, ever. Psychopaths cannot be rehabbed, whether they are 12 or 82. Keep them away from society. Don't try to fixed their warped brains and send them out amongst the unsuspecting public. Can you imagine how much damage they'd be capable of in 10 years if they do this at 12?

Yep, when they're older they'll be 10 times more dangerous. They'll be able to figure out how to keep their crimes better hidden.

I wonder how many animals they practiced on and killed before doing it to their friend?

The mystery here isn't how two 12 year old's learned, from adults, how not to give a sh*t.

When children are brutalised to the degree that they can commit such a brutal crime then that's a crime in itself.

For anyone interested there's an article on the treatment/rehabilitation of phychopaths here: Psychiatric Times: The Paradox of Psychopathy.

Quite a balanced article, imho.

It kinda weighs the successes of rehabilitation against the risks of recidivism and the protection of the general public against.

Particular relevance to this topic; The article mentions the increased risk of young age (i.e. risk of recidivism decreases with maturity) and a history of serious child abuse.

Also makes mention of 'delusionaly driven' acts. According to the OP article delusion/fantasy were a major factor in this case.

This is so weird it's actually hard to comprehend. It was on CNN.

A number of years ago I attended a couple of concerts (by myself) that attracted a lot of black wearing goth type people. Not everyone but a lot. Never got bothered, harassed or even looked at funny. I've always found that interesting since I've been harassed walking down the street. I agree one can't blame an external force on your actions.

Not all psychopaths were abused. And definitely not all people abused as kids grow into psychopaths.

"Slender Man" strikes again:
An Ohio girl, under the apparent influence of the fictional Internet horror meme, attacked her mother last week with a kitchen knife, authorities said.

“I came home one night from work, and she was in the kitchen waiting for me, and she was wearing a mask, a white mask,” the suburban Cincinnati mother told a local television station. “She was someone else during the attack.”
More: 2nd stabbing attack linked to Slender Man meme (NY Post, 9. June 2014)

This 13-year-old girl is being charged as a juvenile whereas the 12-year-olds are being charged as adults ....

Difference circumstances can warrant different charges for similar crime. The only thing we know for sure is that this girl had a history of mental illness.

Some psychopaths were themselves abused (not all, as Wolfie points out)... but I just can't find it in myself to sympathize with someone who does something like this.

In terms of being a psychopath, or not, it makes no difference if a person has been abused or not.

It's like being autistic or schizophrenic. You either are or your not.

When it comes to sympathy ...

A lack of empathy is a psychopathic trait in itself.
