Vegan Aldi

I found Earth Grown ice cream bars. I wanted to get the caramel ones, but the ice cream was coconut milk-based, so I passed. I got the peanut butter ones instead, and they are pretty good! There were only three in the box, though. They need to put at least four and possibly six in a box.

I have not read all of the posts. However, a few years ago Aldi was not being kind at all to the pigs by supporting
farms ttehy purchased from which used gestation crates and other nasties. Its' all about low cost animal products for customers.
My guess is, this situation has likely not changed.

Aside from that they have some good produce, organic hummus, and organic sprouted breads including low salt.,

I guess that would apply to most supermarkets, and also most restaurants :(

Even Aldi in Germany (specifically "Aldi North", who were always lagging behind "Aldi South") is now offering a lot of new vegan products that are specifically marketed as vegan. Some of them are not any cheaper than similar products at "normal" supermarkets, but some of their own brand products actually are, which is a great development.

Finally! Aldi is notorious for either regional differences in ingredients, or just changing them with no notice. I loved their bread & butter pickles like 20 years ago--then they ruined them with corn syrup. I check all the time--and today--I checked--and they're back to just sugar :jump:.
This is a big deal. They still cost $2.25 at Aldi, and TJ"s aren't crisp

I agree, it is a big deal! I avoid corn syrup as much as possible. It's in so many things -- needlessly, I might add.

Do the Aldis you all go to have good meat substitute options at the moment? I'm a new-ish Aldi shopper in Kansas and they never have any, it's really disappointing because I otherwise love Aldi.

Aldi's differ regionally. I have three stores I could go to and they're all a bit different. One is larger, features far more organic produce, and it looks far better! The one right by me is smaller, but well stocked
I love their Meatless meatballs-they have original or Italian seasoned, at about $5. I don't get them because I feel overpriced, but I do love them in spaghetti
They used to have a diverse selection of plant based burgers-I liked the soy burger, but haven't seen those in a while. $2.99 They have veggie, black bean, quinoa and something.
Love their pasta sauce-Simply Nature is organic, I think oil free, marinara or basil and about $2
Great bronze cut organic pasta
They have vegan shelf stable things Earth Grown Vegan, like Pad Thai and taco filling, but I dont' get those
Often have frozen bowl things, like a grain, veg, and beans
They now have a dry shelf stable Meatless Ground. I don't think it's TVP, but pea protein

My Aldi used to, under the Earth Grown brand, but the store has not had anything but veggie and soy burgers, which were probably left over from the last re-stock. It's very disappointing. They don't even have my favorite meatless meatballs anymore or any of the chik'n products they used to carry.

Tofu is now $1.29. Wish I liked it after freezing (but I hate it then...)
I have 7 in the fridge, exp in April sometime

Wow, that is cheaper than my Aldi. I hate CT prices -- grrrr. It was still under $2, but barely. I did freeze mine, as I like frozen tofu for certain recipes.

I proclaim both flavors delicious. I loved the mocha fudge, and the vanilla was great as well. I like that they seem less sweet than some of the other vegan ice creams. I'm sold. I'll be buying these again.

I also liked their vanilla flavoured ice cream and the price is great. Anything more is ridiculous for a tub of ice cream.

Agree! I haven't seen the vegan ice cream at my Aldi in months. :( I actually have two Aldi stores I can go to, and neither one has the ice cream anymore. :(

I saw them on FB. I didn't notice if it was in the UK or US Aldis.
